Children are the future of the global civilization. They are the carriers of our legacy and whatever we bestow on them and they inherit from us will stimulate the development of a new era. So it becomes our moral responsibility to leave them with something that accentuates the importance of a better life for them. We have already done so much of damage to their inheritance that amends need to be made. We need to impart to them knowledge about sustainability goals for by doing this, we are in a way making their future better. ‘The world’s greatest lesson’, a drive started by UNICEF and Global Goals Campaign is a right step in the making. Indian NGO, Akshaya Patra Foundation has lent its support to this campaign.

This is a sustainability oriented campaign wherein children in over 100 countries across the world will be taught about new sustainable development goals. Specifically created lesson materials including an animated film by author and education expert Ken Robinson will be provided to the children. These materials will acquaint kids with the Global Sustainability Goals. A downloadable comic book created by Karl Kesel, Grace Allison and Josh Elder would also be a part of the study material ensemble.

As per Anthony Lake, executive director for UNICEF, the campaign will do more than teach children about the global goals. It will engage them in the effort to achieve those goals- educating them about the challenges that are shaping their futures and encouraging them to drive change in their own communities.

Akshaya Patra Foundation is an NGO which provides midday meal to 1.4 million children every day. Madhu Pandit Dasa, Chairman, Akshaya Patra Foundation considers this drive to be an exemplary initiative by UNICEF. This will tell children about the global goals and would explain their importance.

Bollywood Superstar Hrithik Roshan has been roped in to be India’s brand ambassador for ‘ The world’s largest lesson’. This puts him in the league of other global brand ambassadors for the drive including Nobel peace prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, footballer Neymar Jr, Freida Pinto , Kolo Toure, Dani Alves, UNICEF ambassadors Nancy Ajram, Serena Williams and eminent advocate for UNICEF, Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan.

Children all over India are unable to attend the school as they feel hungry but this new concept by Madhu pandit dasa’s foundation has helped many and changed many lives. I have been greatly influenced by this mid-day meal program that I appreciate all those who contributes for raising awareness towards this program and donates to achieve the goal of feeding children.
