Priyanka Chopra cuts ties with Nirav Modi, Sidharth Malhotra exploring legal options

Named as the global ambassador of luxury diamond jewelry brand Nirav Modi a while back, Priyanka Chopra has allegedly dragged the diamantaire to court for not paying her dues. The actor has accused Modi for not paying her for the diamond ad campaign. Modi has a reputation amongst the A-listers of Bollywood and Hollywood stars, including Kate Winslet and Dakota Johnston, who have walked the red carpet wearing jewels from his brand.

While the Bollywood big shot has cut off all ties with Nirav Modi, her team has blamed him for not paying her for the endorsement deals. When Priyanka Chopra signed the contract in January 2017, she was quoted as saying “My association with Nirav Modi is like a meeting of minds in many ways. We are both fiercely proud of our heritage, and are united by the idea of bringing a modern India to the global forefront. His jewels are one of a kind and effortless, with an understated elegance.”

The Quantico actor had shot various ads for the brand, including one with the Bollywood heartthrob, Sidharth Malhotra. The actor who was also a brand ambassador for Nirav Modi is exploring legal options to get out of his deal with the brand. Earlier, actress Lisa Haydon was also a face of the brand.

The incident came to light after Punjab National Bank (PNB) discovered a $1.77 billion (Rs 11,400 crore) fraud (PNB scam)at one Mumbai branch. The three diamond firms who have benefitted from this fraud are Diamonds R Us, Solar Exports, and Stellar Diamonds. The fact of the matter is that Nirav Modi and his family members are partners in the listed companies.

Multiple searches were conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday in lieu of the Rs 280 crore money laundering case against the alleged scamster Nirav Modi, after a complaint was filed by PNB. Meanwhile, the jewelry designer is said to have escaped to Switzerland.
