ISI Agent Satyendra Siwal, Suspected of Leaking Sensitive Info Caught in Meerut

Satyendar Siwal was arrested for providing classified information related to the Indian military to Pakistan’s ISI

A shocking incident unfolded in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut city when the state Anti Terrorism Squad(ATS) unit arrested Satyendar Siwal on the charges of indulging in anti-national activities. Siwal, who was employed at the Indian Embassy in Moscow, Russia, has been accused of selling confidential information to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The accused, who hails from Hapur city in Uttar Pradesh, has been working as a Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) at the Ministry of External Affairs since 2021.

According to reports, he was arrested after ATS received intelligence from confidential sources that an ISI spy was operating from the Embassy. Siwal was called in for questioning by ATS at their Meerut unit, where his answers were initially found to be unsatisfactory. During interrogation, he confessed to luring Indian government officials with money to extract information about the Indian Army’s day-to-day functioning. He has also been accused of passing on confidential information about the Indian Embassy, Ministry of Defence, and External Affairs to ISI handlers.

Who is Satyendar Siwal? The ISI Agent Caught In Meerut

Satendra was working as a Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). He hails from Shahmahiuddinpur village in the police station area of Hapur district and his father’s name is Jaiveer Singh. During the investigation conducted by ATS, it was found through electronic and physical surveillance that Siwal was involved in anti-India activities. He was connected to the network of ISI handlers and provided them with confidential information regarding strategic activities in return for monetary benefits.

An FIR has been filed against Siwal for his involvement in anti-national activities at the ATS Police Station in Lucknow. He has also been booked under section 121A of the IPC and Official Secrets Act 192 for waging war against the country.

Similar Incidents Uncovered by Authorities

Two separate incidents similar to this one came to light last year. In February 2023, Pradeep Kulukar, a senior official of the Defence Research and Development Organisation, who was posted at the DRDO’s Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Balasore district of Odisha, was arrested for allegedly sharing secret information related to India’s defence sector with a Pakistani spy named ‘Zara Dasgupta’.

In another incident that occurred in October 2023, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) caught a Pakistani man who had been granted Indian citizenship in 2005 for allegedly spying on Indian defence personnel via WhatsApp. The suspect, identified as 53-year-old Labhshankar Maheshwari, is from Tarapur town in the Anand district of Gujarat.

ISI’s Focus on Anti-India Agenda

There have been several reports about Indian intelligence agencies receiving information about the leakage of classified documents to the handlers of the Pakistani Intelligence Agency ISI for some time. The ATS said that the ISI was luring the employees of the Ministry of External Affairs by offering them bribes in huge amounts in exchange for critical information about the Embassy.

It is a well-known fact that ISI regularly attempts to disrupt the Indian bureaucratic ecosystem with its tactics. Additionally, several intelligence reports have indicated that the ISI has been funding Khalistani activities in Canada.
