Amid COVID-19 Scare, Alibaba Co-founder Jack Ma pledges to donate masks and medical kit

Walking on the philanthropic path, Jack Ma, one of the world’s richest men and the co-founder of Alibaba Group, pledged to donate masks and medical kits to Lain America, Africa, and Asia. The Chinese entrepreneur announced the decision in a series of tweets.

Asia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will receive 1.8 million masks, 2.1 lakh test kits and 36 thousand protective clothing pieces, in addition to ventilators and thermometers, as per Jack Ma.

Earlier, he announced the Jack Ma foundation’s decision to donate medical aid to all African countries. “Africa can be one step ahead of the coronavirus. To each of the 54 African countries, we will donate 20,000 test kits, 100,000 masks and 1,000 medical use protective suits and face shields. Thank you,” writes Ma.

In a time when the whole world is fighting the horror of Coronavirus, Jack Ma and Alibaba have emerged as avid philanthropists. 24 Latin American nations, including Argentina, Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador, will be getting 2 million masks, 400k testing kits, and 104 ventilators. “We will ship long-distance, and we will hurry! WE ARE ONE!” said the richest man in Asia.

The foundation also sent emergency supply donations to the United States – 500k testing kits and 1 million masks.

Since COVID-19 comes as one of the biggest medical crises in the last few decades, even the most developed countries seem clueless. From Italy to the US and from China to Japan, almost all global powers are facing the shortage of medical facilities. The total number of confirmed cases in the world have crossed 345,000 mark with over 15, 000 deaths worldwide.
