With support of the CSR arm of Hindustan Power, 77 dropout students from Anuppur appeared for 10th examinations and 44 of them have passed the examinations through private board exam. Of these 44, Naresh Sharma achieved the distinction of passing the examination with first division while 31 of them passed with second division and rest 12 secured third division. Anuppur like many other districts in India has been experiencing high dropout percentage in the high school itself leading lack of proper development opportunities for these youth. On the advice of the local administration, CSR arm of Hindustan Power conceptualized an initiative called – ‘DROP OUT MAINSTREAMING CLASS’ with an aim was to provide educational opportunity to the dropout students. The data of the current year shows that the pass out result in 10th board exams of M.P is 54 % and that of Anuppur is 55%. The teachers conducted classes for these students from November 2015 to February 2016, six days a week to ensure brighter future for these children.
Ranu Kulshrestha, Head, CSR at Hindustan Power said, “The CSR arm of Hindustan Power has been providing many options to ensure livelihood options for the community in Anuppur and understanding the role education plays in empowering the youth, we decided to start the ‘DROP OUT MAINSTREAMING CLASS’ program. We are very that 59% of the students enrolled for the classes have cleared their exams and are ready to pursue higher education while 18 who were unable to clear exams are undergoing further classes to take the supplementary exams. Our sincere thanks to Principal , Excellence School Jaithari for his full support by providing infrastructure and periodic interaction with the students to uplift their spirits.”
“It was by accident that I came to know about Hindustan Power’s initiative in Anuppur. The coaching and guidance provided by Hindustan Power team in Anuppur will help in management of my future.”- Naresh Sharma, Student.
