Byju’s and American gaming software firm Unity Technologies came forward to give India its first Hackathon

Unity Technologies, the American video game software developer announced to partner with India’s edtech platform ‘Byju’s – The Learning App’ for the first gaming hackathon in India. The two-week event, beginning on 16th October is expected to offer a platform to more than 1500 professional gaming experts, developers, artists, and designers from all over the country for making the mobile learning technologies more innovative and creative.

BYJU’S is the world’s most valuable education technology company. It has done a commendable job in the last few years by popularizing the idea of m-learning and transforming the way Indian children learn using innovative means.

“We strongly believe that the power of gaming is truly realised when your solutions manage to demystify concepts and actually help someone become a better, life-long learner. These four unique challenges will offer a great perspective to developers and designers about how much the learning ecosystem has evolved and how their skills can generate unbelievable impact in this industry. At BYJU’S, we are committed to disrupting learning with highly innovative gameplay and delight our students with unmatched learning experiences,” said the chief product officer of Byju, Ranjit Radhakrishnan.

The first-of-its-kind hackathon in India aims to bring a lot of good news for kids under 8 years of age. In the third spell of the hackathon, a number of game developers are expected to visit to present their works and ideas in Kochi on 14-15 November 2019. The winner of the best presentation will be awarded with a cash prize money of Rs 3 lakh. There are three other challenges of developing learning games that are unique and innovative. Rs 50 thousand is the prize money for the winner of each challenge.

Unity Technologies’ country manager of the India subcontinent, Anumukonda Ramesh seemed quite excited about the partnership with Byju. He expected the hackathon to solve the real-world challenges in the industry with new technologies.
