Amid school closures, Ed-tech companies are going on a full spree to help students learn

From Byju’s, Unacademy, Testbook to Extramarks, initiatives are pouring in as they start offering free access to their apps, learning content and even live classes for students

The outbreak of COVID-19 is taking a toll on lots of sectors and one such sector is education. With schools being shut down for weeks, ed-tech companies are trying their best possible way they can to help the young learners and keep them interested and engaged in studies even at the confines of their homes.

“India’s learning won’t stop. Every student will now have free access to our live online classes and premium content,” stated ed-tech firms Byju’s, Vedantu, Unacademy and a few other top players in a print ad. Additionally, with the exams being postponed, most of these firms are mainly focusing on catering to students appearing for exams through their online platforms through bite-sized learning materials and even video-chat with academic experts.

Even Extramarks, a “one-app-one solution” for students, teachers and parents alike, has recently announced that it will be offering full and free access to its app until April 30, 2020 under the Go-To-School initiative. The initiative has been devised to promote use of its technological capabilities by the schools through lives online classes while being able to assign home works and worksheets to the students, which is an added benefit.

In light of the COVID-19 outbreak and its impact on the education sector, Ritvik Kulshrestha, CEO, Extramarks Education said, “As much life comes to a standstill, thanks to technology, learning can continue.” The ed-tech firm also gave explanation as to how students can gain the free and full access to the app. For K-12 students, they can download the app and redeem the GTS@K12 code. However, to avail the JEE and NEET course offered by the learning app, the JEE/NEET Test Prep has to be downloaded, applying code GTS@TP while checking out.
