India’s Shark Tank – Woxsen grooming Management grads and entrepreneurs

From global faculty to practical application initiatives at Woxsen School of Business, MBA aspirants get to explore a new spectrum of management education

The onset of startup culture and entrepreneurial wave across the country has brought about a revolutionary change in the Indian business community. With new ventures making headlines every now and then, along with an exponential expansion of consumer market domain, the bar of qualified and skilled professionals required in today’s competitive world is at an all-time high.

Factoring in the need to equip the managerial professionals of tomorrow for dynamic industry challenges, Woxsen School of Business, a B-school in Hyderabad, has introduced a few initiatives that could attribute to better exposure, knowledge, and skill of MBA aspirants:-

Trade Tower

Considering the expansion of consumer markets in near future, the scope of business opportunities and chances of success are equally high. Trade Tower at the Woxsen School of Business is an initiative that provides a platform for the development of student’s business ideas – tying with the concept of entrepreneurship at the B-school. With an incubator-like structure, Trade Tower offers mentorship and resources to develop student business ideas into a live market venture.

Provided that the idea receives a green signal from the faculty, industry professionals, and Woxsen officials, the students stand a chance to secure funding from the B-school and kick start their entrepreneurial venture.

Business Advisory Council

Although there is a funding source available, the idea can only clear the stages if students are aware of the ongoing industry dynamics. Business Advisory Council at Woxsen serves as the common platform for brainstorming and in-depth market understanding for students.

Featuring reputed management professionals such as Prof Steve Hanke (John Hopkins University), Charles Antony (Former MD & CEO, TATA), Prof Steven Rogers (Harvard Business School) and many more, the council is instrumental in bridging the gap between industry requirements and student knowledge. In addition, it helps to inculcate a responsible edge towards business and education of students.

Faculty

The inherent understanding of management skills and theoretical knowledge is further bolstered by the faculty at Woxsen School of Business. A blend of national and international teachers enables the students to understand the functionalities of Indian companies as well as get an insight to the global viewpoint of management. This equips the future managers and entrepreneurs to resolve the challenges of a company with operations anywhere across the world.

Growing entrepreneurial spirit

All that said, there is a need to increase such innovative initiatives across other B-schools in the country. With the likes of Sachin Bansal, Deepinder Goyal, Bhavish Aggarwal, and various other entrepreneurs setting successful examples, the spirit and need of entrepreneurship is growing exponentially in the country. Be it the vision of starting their own venture, be self-employed, grow a multi-million corporation or adjusting in leading consultant companies, the new crop of management professionals is expected to serve multiple roles in the organization, think on their feet, and come up with solutions and ideas that help the business grow.

In such a scenario, B-schools could play a pivotal role in providing an ecosystem of innovation that helps in shaping the mindset of a student with the combination of theory, its practical application, and exposure.
