No re-test for Class 10 CBSE Maths exam

After a proper analysis and evaluation of answer sheets, the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have decided not to re-conduct the Class 10 mathematics exam. The board randomly assessed a few sample papers which showed no major impact on the performance of students in their internal assessment.  Thus, it is being held that the exam leak did not have an impact on the examination.

Anil Swarup, secretary, school education, tweeted “Consequent to the preliminary evaluation of the impact of reportedly leaked CBSE class 10 maths paper & keeping in mind the paramount interest of students, CBSE has decided not to conduct re-examination even in the states of Delhi NCR and Haryana. Hence, no re-exam for class 10.”

The announcement came as a major relief to the students.

As a matter of fact, the question papers of Economics Clas XII and Maths Class X were leaked on social media hours before the examination.  Thus, the CBSE asserted that it would re-conduct both the exams throughout the country in April. Later, Anil Swarup, secretary, school education, MHRD stated that since the leak has been restricted to Delhi-NCR and Haryana, the retest if at all will be conducted in this region in July.

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear a batch of petitions challenging the CBSE’s decision to conduct a retest for Class 10 Math and Class 12 economics paper.

All the petitions filled on this issue are yet to be heard by Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud. Also, the Delhi High Court the CBSE about its plans, if any, to re-conduct the class 10 Maths test.

Also, there were rumours of Class 12 Accountancy paper leak. However, CBSE completely denied them.

As per Manish Sisodia, the Education Minister of Delhi, a paper similar to Set-II, had reportedly been circulated on WhatsApp a day before the exam on March 15.

CBSE called an urgent meeting, but blamed miscreants for “disturb(ing) the sanctity of examinations.”
