State Bank of India (SBI) has recently joined hands with global non-profit education platform – edX to offer Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on the latter’s platform from November 2020. The strategic partnership between the two is intended for skill development of career-oriented individuals in the global market.Being one of the top MOOCs platforms, EdX has gained immense popularity among students and working professionals and more so amid the pandemic. Talking about the new association with the Harvard and MIT-created platform, Dinesh Khara, Chairman, SBI said, “It gives me immense pleasure to announce SBI’s partnership with edX which is one of the biggest MOOCs platforms. I am confident that this collaboration will benefit millions of learners, career-oriented individuals and organisations across the globe.”
As part of the new venture, SBI will initially offer three courses – Unleashing Creativity at the Workplace, Relationship Marketing Strategy for Financial Services and Conflict Resolution. The duration of the courses is four to six weeks each and students are required to commit at least two to three hours per week. The courses have been curated and designed by the top practicing bankers, with the sole aim to enable the learners to widen their perspectives and give them access to knowledge beyond traditional classrooms. There is no specific educational qualification criteria for the interested learners.
SBI has already been leveraging edX courses as part of its learning and development initiatives for the employees. With the new partnership, it becomes the first corporate partner of edX from India.
