Bollywood award shows are hardly seen appreciating talents. No matter how hard the actors perform, awards are always received by the popular actors. Due to this reason, mostly the award winners are predictable. The inspirational actors like, Nawazuddin Siddique, Naseeruddin Shah or Manoj Bajpai are mostly seen winning the hearts. Though, they hardly receive awards.
However, Star Screen Awards of 2017 turned the table. This year we saw a few big banner films failing at the box office and small films winning the hearts. Similar trend was seen in the Star Screen Awards this year. It was the new talents that managed to grab major trophies, making the fans happy. It is a great moment of celebration for the fans of the fresh talent in Bollywood.
Actors like Irfan Khan and Rajkumar Rao won the ‘Best Actor’ award, surpassing the popular actors like Salman Khan. Rajkumar Rao also won the Best Supporting Actor for Bareilly Ki Barfi. Movies like Tumhari Sulu and Bareilly Ki Barfi won a lot of nominations. Though, Amir Khan’s Dangal remained the highest winner.
Rajkumar Rao thanked his fans through twitter and wrote, “Best Actor #NEWTON, Best Supporting Actor #BAREILLYKIBARFI, Best Film #NEWTON. Thank you #StarScreenAwards2017. Thank u team #Newton & #BareillyKiBarfi & all u wonderful people for all the love & blessings. Thank u Mom. GRATITUDE”
Irfan Khan also shared his happiness via twitter and wrote, “Haasil se Hindi Medium tak, villain se popular Hero tak…. Thankyou #StarScreenAwards2017” Their win in a way welcomes a change which Bollywood lovers wanted to see and witness.”
Director of Bareilly Ki Barfi also tweeted, “There are times when you have faith in the other person more than yourself. More happiness for you @RajkummarRao may you reach the stars always. This award for #starscreen best supporting role for #bareillykibarfi will be special in my life forever.”
Many other actors flooded twitter by sharing their joy with the fans. Most of them uploaded selfies with their trophies that clearly showcased their happiness.
We hope that the upcoming award shows of the industry also surprise us and be as fair as the Star Screen Awards has been this year.
