Every year the third Saturday of September is celebrated as the World Marrow Donor Day (WMDD) with the major objective of thanking all the marrow or blood stem cell donors across the world. Some people donate to their kith and kin; however there are some who donate to a patient somewhere in the world who is not even blood related. It is among the noblest deeds which can bring about a major positive change in the lives of many.
Narayana Hrudayalaya , one of the leading hospitals celebrated World Marrow Donor Day along with DATRI on 17th September 2016 in order to spread awareness about the noble cause of Blood Stem Cell Donation. The event was aimed at encouraging people to donate their blood stem cells and thank the 30 Million Donors Worldwide. However, the fact that 30 million donors are still not enough was emphasized during the event.
The event witnessed a huge level participation from the potential donors, patients and their families. It was graced with the presence of various prominent personalities like expert physicians in the field of Hemato-Oncology, renowned doctors of Narayana Hrudayalaya and the representatives of DATRI blood stem cell donors’ registry.

He enlightened the audience with his noble ideas, stressing on the fact that donating blood stem cells can save a life of a blood cancer patient.
