RK Associates’ Comesum to run new food junction in Ranchi

Comesum Food Plaza, run by RK Associates, which runs outlets in several Indian railway stations, will replace the Birsa Munda Food Plaza on Platform 1 on Ranchi railway station.

Run by RK Associates, which itself is a renowned name in the field of hotel industry, Comesum’s outlet is likely to become operational by the end of this month. The food plaza chain which was unequivocally popular in Delhi, through their junctions in Delhi metro stations has since expanded its presence in the classic Indian railway.

Project manager Nand Kishore Pant said that Comesum had signed an agreement with the IRCTC on August 20 after qualifying for the tender. The tender also entails a service period of 9 years, which is the duration for which Comesum will run the plaza at the station.

“The contract of Jamuna Associates, which operated the Birsa Munda Food Plaza, was terminated on August 19. After we signed the agreement, the store was handed over to us. We are now designing it properly,” stated Pant. He also added that the renovation work of the two-storey air-conditioned food plaza would be under his supervision.

“Interior decorations are in the final stages. Once complete, the plaza will be opened. A team of around 50 employees will run the plaza,” Pant further added.

Comesum is an IRCTC approved chain of food plazas which started as a restaurant in Pune back in 2002. Launched by Rahul Agrawal, Rajeev Mittal, who also owns RK Associates, and Abhishek Agrawal, the food plaza chain has been in the catering business for many years.
