Road accident claims former parliamentarian Nandamuri Harikrishna’s life

The 62-year-old, Nandamuri Harikrishna, a former parliamentarian and actor, died in a road accident today in Telangana. Former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao’s son, he was also the brother-in-law of N Chandrababu Naidu, who is the current chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. Nandamuri Harikrishna was also a member of the Telugu Desam Party, which is the current ruling party in the state.

The accident took place when he was driving his Toyota Fortuner while travelling to Kavali, Nellore. On the way to attend a wedding, his car flipped to the other side of the road after being rammed into the divider. Further, it was hit by a car coming from the other side. The accident happened about a 100 Km from Hyderabad at around 6:30 am.

According to police, Harikrishna was not wearing the seatbelt at the time of the accident. His overspeeding vehicle crashed into the other car and the impact threw him out of his seat. The car is believed to have been at a speed of more than 150 Kmph.

The accident left him bleeding profusely, and he was rushed to Kamineni Hospital in Narkatpally. It was here that he succumbed to his injuries.

In a statement given by Ameer Khan to PTI, the Duty Medical Officer, he said, “Harikrishna suffered severe head injuries. We also suspect internal bleeding. However, the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained.”

He was a part of various Telugu movies. His sons, Kalyanram and Taraka Rama Rao (Junior NTR), are also famous Telugu actors. A fact that is being highlighted and connected with his demise is the death of his son Janakiram in a road accident on the same Nalgonda stretch in 2014. Junior NTR also escaped death after an accident on the same road in 2009.
