Alok Bhartia is a Bhatakti Aatma, teases his friends

A traveler’s life is filled with sugar, spice and everything nice. If you ever have the chance, sit with an elderly wanderlust over a beer. They’ll have tons of stories to share from their adventures! It’s what inspires young wayfarers like Alok Bhartia to pick up their backpack and drift around the world in khaki shorts, sunscreen and a baseball cap. A few days ago, a famous travelers’ online portal decided to interview Alok Bhartia. Here’s how it went!

Q:  Hello Alok, it’s a pleasure to finally meet you in flesh.

Alok Bhartia:   Thank you for inviting me to this interview, I was really nervous at first, but now I feel too excited!

Q: Don’t want to make it sound like an interview, but do tell us about your life.

Alok Bhartia: There’s not much in my life actually. I am a Kolkatan by virtues but an Indian by heart. My soul is a wanderer though. My friends call me Bhatakti Aatma because I travel a lot. *laughs*

Q: So what are you doing these days?

Alok Bhartia: Warming my bed and drinking hot-chocolate. I sprained my leg this morning when I was jogging. Sometimes we travelers also need some time off.

Q:  That’s true, but what’s that one tour where you did not stop even when you felt dead-tired?

Alok Bhartia: That has to be the Valley of Flowers trek in Uttaranchal. The surreal scenery of valleys covered with flowers and greenery captivated my mind. Those fantastic and spiritual moments made me forget about my swollen legs.

Q: Where to next?

Alok Bhartia: Sweden sounds good at this time of the year.

Q: What are the five things that you do not travel without?

Alok Bhartia: My android is very dear to me since it keeps me connected to social media and I blast drum n’ bass on it. I also keep snacks and a canteen filled with Old Monk if I can. That’s pretty much all I need.

Q:    What’s the most underrated travel destination according to you?

Alok Bhartia: Buenos Aires

Q: What’s the most overrated travel destination?

Alok Bhartia: England

Q: Your favourite musical act?

Alok Bhartia: It has to be ‘A dog Called Ego’. I love post-rock, especially when I am wayfaring in the night.

Q: Thank you for this interview, Alok. We hope that your thirst for adventure is always quenched!

Alok Bhartia: No, thank YOU for the interview. I feel like a celebrity now! *laughs*

The interview was conducted via Skype. Want us to convey your message to Alok Bhartia? Let us know!
