Geetha Muthiah – Chettinad Group set to launch a School offering International Baccalaureate Program

Education is one of the most essential asset in the life of an individual. Considering its importance, Geetha Muthiah, the Director of Chettinad Educational Institutions, announced that the Chettinad Group is set to launch a school, ‘Chettinad-Sarvalokaa Education’. The institute is authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

The effective use of technology is missing in most of our institutions. Our children are not getting high-standard education in most of the institutions. The whole focus is on cramming information rather than understanding and analyzing it.

Geetha Muthiah, the Director of Chettinad Educational Institutions, said that we need to prepare our children for the new age. She added that students must learn the skills and sensibilities required to create and live in a world that is nature-friendly, peaceful and sustainable for future generations.

Assuming the need of the hour, the Chettinad Group has decided to incorporate this high standard technology in the international school very soon. The school will offer project-based experiential learning system to the students. It will cater to a mix of Indian and international students. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) will also be offered by the school from the month of August, to children aged from 3-11 years till 5th grade.

Geetha Muthiah, the wife of MAMR Muthiah alias Ayyappan, the MD of Chettinad Group stated: “We believe learning should be a joyful discovery for every student. We seek to build compassionate and responsible global citizens who contribute towards a sustainable future.”

An outline with an emphasis on acquiring skills is offered by an IB school. By 2018, the school is likely to start the Middle Years Program (MYP) for the students of 6th to 10th grade.Subsequently, a Diploma Program (DP) will also be initiated by Chettinad-Sarvalokaa Education for 11th and 12th grade. Apart from day school, weekly boarding school is also offered by the institute with all types of modern facilities.

“We endeavor to go beyond the focus on achieving grades and personal success, towards creating awareness that we are all interconnected, interdependent and that we have to use our resources responsibly”,said Geetha Muthiah about the future plans.

The Chettinad Group is known for the work it does throughout the state and the country. Around 12,000 students graduate each year from the 12 educational institutions incorporated by the Group.
