ISRO Made History – The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) makes history yet again. The space agency, today, launched a record 104 satellites on a single rocket from the Satish Dhawan Spaceport in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. An incredible step taken by the country’s space agency, it indeed makes India the first country to release multiple satellites into space on a single mission successfully.
“The countdown for the launch of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV-C37/Cartosat2 Series satellite mission began at 5:28 am soon after the Mission Readiness Review committee and Launch Authorisation Board gave its approval for lift off,” states ISRO.
India’s plan to revisit the red planet, Mars, and land on Venus for the first time is not a far-fetched dream anymore. The electronic budget documents 2017 rolled out by the Indian government also gave us a glimpse of a formal acknowledgement of these two bold inter-planetary sojourns. The mega launch of India’s workhorse rocket PSLV-C37 and two INS (ISRO Nano Satellite) today certainly comes as great news.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi felt elated at the successful launch and tweeted at 10:05 am today, “Congratulations to @isro for the successful launch of PSLV-C37 and CARTOSAT satellite together with 103 nano satellites!”
He continued, “This remarkable feat by @isro is yet another proud moment for our space scientific community and the nation. India salutes our scientists.”
The mission also has great significance for India as it beats Russia, who launched 37 satellites in one go in the year 2014. Also, today’s successful launch is expected to break the ice between arch-rivals Israel and the Arab world. According to an ISRO official, “The last satellite included was from a private firm in Dubai and is a nano satellite. It is significant that we have brought together Israel and the Arab world.”
India is proud that ISRO Made History with 104 satellites.
