In a striking move towards fostering education, skill development, and economic empowerment, the MP government has launched a new “CM Learn and Earn” scheme. This visionary initiative is a testament to the state’s commitment to providing its citizens with a comprehensive platform that facilitates learning and empowers youth to translate their knowledge into real-world opportunities. The fusion of education and earning has been masterfully orchestrated, propelling Madhya Pradesh towards a brighter and more self-reliant future.
Under this scheme, the govt will provide training in 703 different work areas. Both govt and private institutions will provide the training. The youth will be eligible to receive a stipend of Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 10,000 per month during the training period.
The scheme is open to all youth between the ages of 18 to 35 years who have passed their class 10 or equivalent. The youth can apply for the initiative online or at designated Common Service Centres (CSCs). The registration for the project began in June, and so far, 8 lac youth have registered.
This endeavor aims to offer training to more than 8 lac youth. Both educational institutions providing the training and individuals seeking to undergo the training can now complete their registration. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has emphasized the government’s dedication to linking young minds with employment prospects.
Up until now, a total of 16,744 companies have enrolled in this initiative. Within the framework, 70,386 job openings have been announced, establishing 15,092 employment agreements.
The CM has highlighted the essence of the CM Sikhao Kamao (CM Learn and Earn), emphasizing top-notch technology and methodologies for the training process. Following the training, the certificate will be conferred by the MP State Skill Development and Employment Board.
Chouhan elaborated on establishing the Sant Ravidas Global Skill Park in Bhopal, designed to train around 6,000 young individuals. Moreover, training opportunities are also available at the Model ITI. This program is accessible to youths aged 18 to 29. The monthly stipends will be structured as follows: Rs. 8,000 for those who have completed 8th to 12th grade, Rs. 8,500 for ITI graduates, Rs. 9,000 for diploma holders, and Rs. 10,000 for graduates and highly educated individuals.
Youngsters have the option to receive training across 700 curricula spanning 46 domains. Chouhan emphasized that this scheme effectively addresses the dual challenges of skill shortage and unemployment. Remarkably, Madhya Pradesh boasts one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country. As of April 2023, the state’s unemployment rate stood at 3.7 percent.
A substantial number of beneficiaries, totaling 1.3 million, have reaped the benefits of self-employment schemes introduced by the central and state governments. Chouhan highlighted that a significant sum of Rs. 67,000 crores has been extended to these 1.3 million beneficiaries to foster self-employment ventures.
While discussing opportunities in government employment, he revealed the successful fulfillment of 60,000 vacancies within a year, with ongoing recruitment for an additional 40,000 positions. He acknowledged the practical limitation of providing government jobs to everyone, underscoring the rationale behind creating the Learn and Earn Scheme. The state government has also introduced the Udyam Kranti Yojana to facilitate self-employment, offering access to loans ranging from 1 lakh to 50 lakhs.
The CM Learn and Earn scheme is a welcome initiative by the Madhya Pradesh government. The scheme will help the youth acquire the skills to find jobs and build a better future.
