Prof (Dr) Balvir S Tomar, NIMS University Chairman, launched the NIMS Medanta Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary Programme on October 24, 2017 at the NIMS Institute of Hepatobiliary Sciences, Jaipur. The event was graced by various prominent personalities.
A joint initiative by Medanta Liver Transplantation and NIMS University Hospital, it is said to be a progressive move, which is likely to widen the horizon of the medical sector.
The liver transplant programme will be led by Padma Shri Dr Arvinder Singh Soin as the chairman, who is the Chairman of Liver Transplant, Medanta (Gurgaon). One of the leading liver transplant surgeons, Dr Soin is credited with a rich experience in the domain. Owing to his professional expertise, he has successfully performed more than 2,500 liver transplants. His overall excellence and major contribution in developing liver transplantation in India has been well-acknowledged when he was honoured with the Padma Shri award.
Expressing his gratitude on the successful launch of the NIMS Medanta Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary Programme, Dr Balvir S Tomar, NIMS University Chaiman said, “NIMS University Hospital is focused on providing the best medical treatment to patients with emphasis on world class care. The association with Medanta is unique, and it is for the first time that the team led by Dr Soin will be providing its services in Rajasthan.”
