India’s Home Minister Rajnath Singh doesn’t mince his words. On Friday, Singh said in the Lok Sabha that Pakistan is using social media to provoke Kashmiri youths to visit encounter sites and disrupt the operation carried out by security forces. The Home Minister was responding to some lawmakers when they raised the issue of death of three civilians who were killed in firing in Kashmir’s Budgam recently.
TMC’s Saugata Roy said that the situation in the Kashmir Valley was deepening and sought Singh’s intervention. The home minister said that the security forces were fighting terrorism, and will surely be successful.
Singh spoke about how a “new trend” has emerged in strife-torn Kashmir lately, in which young boys from the area gather at the site, where security forces are battling with militants, and throw stones at the forces to help the militants flee.
The Home Minister appealed the youths of Kashmir not to be misled by Pakistan. “Some social media applications like WhatsApp and Facebook are used to gather youths at places of encounters. These groups are based in Pakistan,” Rajnath Singh warned.
