Akshaya Patra commemorates the serving of its 2 Billionth Midday Meal with Jamie Oliver’s Food RevolutionAkshaya Patra, a widely known and accredited non-profit organization recently celebrated the occasion of serving its 2 billionth nutritious meal from its Guwahati Kitchen. The event witnessed the participation of a number of students, teachers and parents with zeal, fervor and enthusiasm. The celebration took place during the launch of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution in India. The organization served the students of its beneficiary school, Mrilanlini Devi Shishu Niketan during the event. Akshaya Patra caps were distributed to the students.

Working for the noble cause of providing mid-day meals to school children Akshaya Patra aims that ‘No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger.’The organization has been acknowledged for its noble causes in the form of various awards and accolades.  It provides mid day meals to around 1.4 million children every day on an average. It works for eliminating hunger-related needs of primary school children because the NGO believes that the fight against illiteracy cannot be fought with an empty stomach. In a short span of time, Akshaya Patra Foundation has garnered considerable success in eliminating hunger and poverty and is considered as one of the most effective NGOs.

Akshaya Patra Foundation has collaborated with the well renowned chef Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, a globally acknowledged campaign that strives to reform U.S. school lunch programme. The event was live streamed on Jamie Oliver’s official Food Revolution Facebook page as a part of his on-going Food Revolution celebrations. The Food Revolution is a noble initiative which aims to make this world a better place by providing an easy access to right information and education.
