India wants strict action against Kansas hate shooter

The US might no longer be a safe place for the Indian community to stay. With the recent killing of an Indian engineer in a hate crime in Kansas City, the safety of Indian nationals has become questionable.

India is serious about taking up the matter to the place where it can be heard: to the Donald Trump administration. Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar will visit USA on Tuesday to take on key bilateral issues. This will include the US government’s imminent decision to strike out H-1B visas.

Jaishankar is likely to have discussions with key members of the Trump administration during his four-day visit, and dwell on local and global issues of mutual interest. India’s contribution to the US IT sector is huge, and the Foreign Secretary will talk how clamping down Visa regulations will hurt both the nations.

Union minister Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday condemned the killing of the engineer, urging the US to take strict action for such hate crimes. “Such incidents involving racial discrimination are shameful. They will dent the image of USA. So the US president, administration and civil societies should unequivocally respond and condemn such incidents,” Naidu said in Hyderabad.
