Imran Khan sworn in as the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan

The general elections of July 25 have finally revealed the fate of Pakistan. On Saturday, Imran Khan was sworn in as the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan as his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged victorious.

PTI’s win and majority in National Assembly has broken the pattern of juggling the leadership between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and some period of Army rule. Imran Khan struggled for over two decades in order to become the PM so that he can drive the country towards Islamic welfare.

Imran Khan promised to breakdown corruption, improve education and healthcare, and implement anti-poverty programs during his 2018 election campaign. He also expressed that a cooperation policy with India would be a feasible way of maintaining peace in the region as well as on the Kashmir issue.

Mr. Khan is looking forward to strengthen the ties with Iran and Saudi Arabia while aiming for an equilibrium of mutual benefit with America. He believes in the fact that talks and conferences always conclude with a solution, irrespective of the problem’s complexity.  In addition to that, PTI has devised a 100- day strategy to counter administrative and economic issues of the country.

Apart from his political life, he is well-known for his contribution to the country’s cricket team. He was the team captain when Pakistan won the World Cup in 1992. Furthermore, he played test cricket from Pakistan for 21 years i.e. 1971-1992. Special guests like Navjot Singh Sidhu attended the ceremony.

An eligible bachelor of old times, he wore a traditional black sherwani while his third wife, Bushra Bibi, formerly known as Bushra Maneka, was seen in a white niqab.
