Naushad Sheik : Education is one of the most powerful tools for bringing about a major positive change in the world. It is the key to resolve a number of problems like eliminating gender inequality, poverty, fatal diseases and fostering peace & harmony. It can help in bridging the wide gap between the rural and urban areas. Thus, equality and fairness in access to basic education is imperative.
In an attempt to improve the educational standards, the district panchayat has decided to grant Rs.25 lakh annually to the government schools that effectively implement the comprehensive education programme.
According to Naushad Sheik, the Director of the Creative Academy, it is a great initiative by the district panchayat which is likely to improve the standard of education. Education is the best way to exchange ideas while propagating the existing ones, remarked Mr. Sheik.
It was also decided that school-level workshops will be held for the launch of the programme in the schools. The major aim of the workshops is to provide the schools with a clear picture of the programme’s objectives and the way it is to be implemented. It will have will have participation of principal/headmaster, parent-teacher association, school management committee representative, school leader, grama panchayat president, and school-level co-ordinator concerned.
Talking about the programme K.V. Sumesh, the president of District panchayat stated that it was conceived as a major initiative to improve standards of education and infrastructure in schools. He urged each of the 24 district panchayat division members to take up the challenge of having to implement the programme in a school each in their divisions. The officials were instructed to achieve 70 per cent execution of the panchayat’s annual plans by December and completion by February.
