Chinese smartphone giant, OPPO said it is about to complete the first phase of its manufacturing unit in Greater Noida. Company is planning to double the smartphone manufacture by 2020.
Around 10,000 people are working in the Greater Noida manufacturing unit of the company, engaged across the manufacturing operations – quality assurance and product testing. It is expected that the workforce will increase to 15,000 by 2020.
Product and Marketing Vice President OPPO, Sumit Walia said “Our Greater Noida factory is a symbol of Oppo’s strong commitment to India and a shining example of the success of the government’s ‘Make in India’ programme. Currently, we are producing four million smartphones a month, and by the end of 2020, we will double our existing capacity.”
He also added that the company is committed to make India a global export hub for smartphones. He stated that “With the increased production and future export plans, we aim to achieve our dream of making India a global export hub for smartphone phones.”
OPPO is now planning to expand its manufacturing capacity in India so that it could export its devices to Middle East, South East and Africa from the Greater Noida facility when it will become fully operational by 2020.
The company is also increasing its investment in the second-largest R&D centre located in Hyderabad. The centre has played a vital role in developing the company’s flagship series -Reno.
